Des Moines Register: Dave Dawson calls to fix 'broken Washington DC' at Register Soapbox

Democratic Iowa U.S. House candidate Dave Dawson brought his platform, focused on lowering costs for Iowans, addressing corruption on Capitol Hill and bringing common decency back to politics, to the Iowa State Fair.

Dawson, a former Iowa state lawmaker and Woodbury County attorney running for northwestern Iowa's 4th Congressional District, talked affordable health care and answered voters' questions during a hot and humid day at the Des Moines Register's Political Soapbox on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The Democrat is running in the state's reddest district, where winning elections has been an uphill battle for his party for decades. But Dawson believes the momentum behind Iowa Democrats this year will push him closer to the finish line.

"If we are switching people's minds that much on some of the issues that they care about this year, it's possible with enough work, with the right message, and with actually enough resources to fund this campaign, we could get out there and win this," Dawson said.
