KMAland: Dawson secures Democratic nomination in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District
The race for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District is set after a contested Democratic Primary on Tuesday.
Unofficial results indicate that former State Representative Dave Dawson won the Democratic nomination in the 4th Congressional District with 11,261 votes, or a little over 39%. A Cherokee native and current Lawton resident, Dawson has served as a prosecutor in the Woodbury County Attorney’s Office for 19 years and served in the Iowa House from 2013 to 2017.
Dawson tells KMA News that he is honored and humbled to have received the voters’ support for the Democratic nomination.
“I’ve worked hard, we had town halls in all 36 counties in Iowa’s 4th congressional district and met people face to face,” said Dawson. “I am very honored to have received their vote tonight and I’m excited to move on to the general election.”
Dawson says his past legislative experience likely played a role in securing support from Democratic voters in western Iowa.
